Planet-Friendly Practices
Thermore has always been a leader in developing sustainable thermal insulations for apparel. In the 1980s, we launched our first planet-first insulation created from recycled PET bottles. In the 40 years following this development, we have iterated and reimagined how we can be a sustainable fashion solution. We are proud to continue this tradition for the next 40 years.

Thermore launches the first recycled insulation made from recycled PET bottles
Thermore develops and launches Thermore NRG, the thermal insulation that saves approx. 30% of resources

1994/1996

2003/2005

Thermore launches the first sustainable collection, featuring Ingeo® and Tencel® fibers
All Ecodown® products feature 5% sustainable fibers, Thermore’s small token to the environment

Thermore introduces Rinnova, a 50% recycled, durable insulation made from PET bottles
Rinnova 100% is the first thermal insulation entirely made from recycled fibers

2011

2012

Classic, Thermore’s best selling product, is converted to 50% recycled fiber content
Thermore is awarded Bluesign certification

FROM PET BOTTLES
TO THERMAL INSULATION

1. PET bottles

Plastic bottles are part of our daily life, they are made of PET and after being used they can be recycled.

2. Recycling procedure

Used PET bottles are repurposed following standard recycling procedure.

3. From flakes to fibers

The PET flakes are melted and spun into new fibers.

4. Thermal insulation

The fibers are then used to produce the thermal insulation in cold weather jackets
